One of the many features attracting people to buy a new home at Knights Wood in Royal Tunbridge Wells is the fact that the stunning development will include a new primary school.
The Skinners’ Kent Primary School is currently being built at Knights Wood and is scheduled to open its doors to its first pupils in September 2015. For parents eager to learn more, there will be two Open Evenings taking place soon, as follows:
4.00 – 6.00pm, Wednesday 19 November 2014
The Skinners’ Kent Academy
TN2 4PY (please park in Blackhurst Lane)
4.00 – 6.00pm, Tuesday 9 December 2014
The Skinners’ School
St. John’s Road
These events will provide a great opportunity for prospective parents to learn more about the new school, which will be run by The Skinners’ School Foundation, with the support of The Skinners’ School and The Skinners’ Kent Academy. The open evenings will also be an opportunity for parents to meet with the heads of these two schools – Mr Edward Wesson, Headmaster of The Skinners’ School and Mrs Sian Carr, Principal of The Skinners’ Kent Academy.
Dandara, the multi-award winning property developer currently building the beautiful new homes at Knights Wood, has contributed £3.95 million towards the cost of constructing the school, which will have academy status and will educate boys and girls aged 4 to 11. When it opens in September 2015, it is expected to have 30 pupils in Reception Class and 15 students in Years 1 and 2.
There will be a phased programme of growth to a capacity of 210 students across seven classes, with the potential to extend to two form entry.
Speaking about the new school, Susie Bennett, Sales Director at Knights Wood said, “The first phase of three-bedroom homes at Knights Wood has been really popular with young families. The quality of schools in Tunbridge Wells is often cited as a key reason for living in the town, so people have been really excited to hear that The Skinners’ Kent Primary School will be built at Knights Wood.
“For future residents with young children, having a brand new primary school on their doorstep is a big plus. The Skinners’ Kent Primary School will be located on the north side of a beautifully landscaped ‘village square’ and we hope that most parents will choose to walk their children to school. However, for those parents that need to drive, a new ‘drop-off’ car park will be available. With around 50 spaces, parents will be able to park here and walk their children to school, helping to generate an inclusive, family spirit.”
Sian Carr, Principal of The Skinners’ Kent Academy, said,
“The Skinners’ School and The Skinners’ Kent Academy are delighted to be working together to provide excellent primary provision in the new school. Our joint experience will ensure high standards of teaching and learning are combined with outstanding care and support. Our school will grow and flourish as the Knights Wood development grows and we look forward to being in the heart of a vibrant new community.”
For parents wishing to apply for a place for their child at the school in September 2015, applications to Kent County Council can be made from 11 November 2014 until the deadline of 15 January 2015.
